@ayeleshia
absolutely gorgeous
This shoot is super important to me. Of course, as an homage to Dita Von Teese’s “Lazy”, but also as my own little “fuck you” to ableism.
We’ve all heard myth that disabled people leach off of society. Blatant lie. Most disabled people I know contribute loads to the world, through activism, work, art, community support, compassion, storytelling, innovation, sharing wisdom, etc. and hey, even if we didn’t, we’d still deserve basic respect and access. Everyone does!
Nevertheless, this myth means most (if not all) disabled people have times where we’re criticized as selfish for wanting basic decency: respect, access, privacy, autonomy, etc. Forget about real indulgence.
I really, truly do believe we all (disabled or otherwise) deserve & NEED a bit of indulgent pleasure in our lives. Unfortunately, whenever we do allow ourselves a bit of well earned hedonism, people use it as proof for their political agenda, or some sort of moral failing.
So here, for the politicians, media personalities, and random people on the street who believe disabled people are selfish, spoiled leaches on society. Check out me being more indulgent than you could ever imagine & looking damn good doing it.
