Sirius actually takes himself down with this quote. He knows he acts on his darker side, quite a lot actually. Sirius never forgives himself, we all know that but this quote that most of us see all around Tumblr (bc it’s true and pretty) is actually a way for Sirius to express his darkness while showing Harry that no matter how dark it gets inside him, he won’t give into that because he is James Potter’s son but Sirius has and Sirius will act on the darkness inside him which has burned out whatever light he had left inside and he knows that. Sirius knows that he is a bad person (even though I will be the first to argue that it’s not that simple), he paints himself as one because he has so many proofs of how he acted on the darkness in him. Even his surname is a proof of that. This quote might be very helpful to Harry but I think it sinks Sirius further down.
