Here’s a (not entirely complete) theory: every person imprinted on has had ties to the tribe, Nessie being the only exception (that I know of). There’s something about her that caused Jacob to imprint on her when normally he wouldn’t have? Perhaps the same something that causes nearly everyone else she comes into contact with to become so quickly enamored with her.

So yeah Molly Swan was Old Quil’s wife. (Son of Quil II, who met the Cullens in 1936)
It may not mean anything other than the idea that the Swans have been in the area for a long time and have always been close to the Quileutes, and Molly might not even have been related to Charlie’s grandparents at all… but this is the Twilight Universe of Amazing Coincidences, soooo… And I always assumed Quil was 100% Quileute which would mean Molly herself was too?
Anyway, this could be the basis for those shifter!Bella fics, but I’m not sure about that.
